yes, yes, and again i say, yes

In an interview published in the latest issue of "Folly"(available here as a PDF), Bay-area artist George Lawson is speaking my language:

Folly: What do you do to challenge assumptions you adopt (that is if you do) about creating and how to do your work, along the way?
George Lawson: I wouldn't call my organizing principles assumptions, although they may well be. The best way to avoid cliche is to just keep looking. Anything essential that reveals itself after careful looking is challenge enough to one's assumptions, although it's sometimes hard to stay present. We want to fix things, pick a position and know where things stand. It's not a very secure feeling to look and see and realize that everything is always changing, but that's how it is.
