an army of juan

Yesterday somebody at the cafe was wearing a T-shirt like this (except it actually looked more like the Army's official "Army of One" series of ads). From the campaign kickoff rally for Juan Garcia, running for State Representative in Texas. (I have no clue of his positions or affiliation.)

A Google search of "Army of Juan" reveals that there is also a Chicago-based Latino Hip-Hop band with the name.

This reminds me of a stupid joke...I'll post it later.

Joke?

A visitor from Latin America attends his first major league baseball game in the United States. When he gets home, a friend asks him what it was like.

"Americans are so friendly and caring," he replied.

"Why do you say that?," his friend asks.

"Well, when I got to the baseball stadium, almost all the tickets were sold out. I was only able to get a seat in the top row of the highest set of bleachers. The baseball players looked like ants from that distance."

"So?," his friend remarks. "How does that make Americans friendly and caring?"

"Just before the game began, to my great delight, the whole crowd stood up and looked at me and sang, 'Jose, can you see?'"

Meant to include a link, and there are probably lots of versions of this floating around:

My favorite part of this picture is the dude's beret.

Chris, that's a good one, but not the one I was thinking of...let's see if I can get it right...

A young woman gives birth, and is forced to send her twin boys off for adoption, even before she gives them names, because of her troubling circumstances.

Many years later, she unexpectedly finds out they've been living in two different countries; Mexico and Saudi Arabia, and that she has an opportunity to see them again, their names now being Amal and Juan.

While she is waiting at the airport with a friend of the brothers, who has helped them find their mother, the mother suddenly realizes she won't know which son is which, since they are coming off on separate planes. She expresses her worry to the friend.

The friend replies, unworriedly:
"Don't worry; if you've seen Juan, you've seen Amal."

Here's the "real" version of the twins joke:
