my current little corner of the world



For the next four weeks (excluding weekends) you'll find me here...in southern Maryland...at St. Mary's City...established in 1667 (can you believe that?)...the St. Mary's River where it connects to the Potomac, almost at that river's mouth into the Chesapeake Bay. I'm the artist-in-residence at St. Mary's College of Maryland, a public liberal arts college of about 1800 students. It reminds me of my alma mater Goshen College. I like it a lot already. As you can see from the photos it's snowy and cold.

Above is the house I'll be sharing with the writer-in-residence. Below are outside and inside of the studio. The interior composite photo of the studio makes it look extremely large. It's very nice, but you're really looking at a room that's about a 15 foot square, with a pitched skylit roof. Today is a day of prep and drawing.
