the music of my year
One of the things that made me want to start a weblog in the first place was discovering the little feature called "Radio Blog" that appears in my sidebar. Like many of you, I suppose, I'm a fantasy DJ. The possibility of creating audio programs and streaming them was really exciting to me. Sadly, this part of the weblog has been completely underutilized, partially because of technical difficulties early on, but mainly because I couldn't devote the kind of time I wanted to it. Were that it was as easy as burning a CD. There is a fair amount of file transfer involved that's a bit time consuming. And let's say time isn't exactly what I've had in any kind of supply the past months. So I'm kicking off Year Two of dgls with a new audio stream. It's "The Music of My Year." It's not a best-of list. Though the majority of it is what I found most compelling, it's more what I'll remember being the soundtrack to my life...the music I associate with events, seasons, or stretches of time.
I realize more and more that I digest music very slowly, so there isn't a broad range of artists on this program. You'll find that my tastes lingered in realms of strident sonic patterning, with hits of sing-along indie rock, and the piano as a recurring anchor. Radio Blog is currently not cooperating with me in terms of allowing me to sequence the tracks the way I want. Other than that I don't feel like putting more words in front of it. I hope you'll have a listen, and enjoy!
