all i got done today

The heat waves in Philadelphia really take a toll on me physiologically. It seems it gets worse each year. Today was up to 95 again, and not a dry 95 either. There's no air conditioning in my studio, and the fans just couldn't cut it today. Despite having a lot to get done, and a real plan of action, I could do nothing in there today. So I went out to run errands...on foot...walking incredibly slowly.
One stop was at my eye doctor. Leaving his office I realized I was just a stone's throw from the University of Pennsylvania's Arthur Ross Gallery. This meant I could see the current exhibition about Charles & Ray Eames' toys (curated by my friend Ben Volta and his classmates) in air conditioned comfort.
It's a small, simple show. Uncomplicated and innocent. It was cool, and refreshing.
The only thing I got done today was building a house of cards (image courtesy of my mobile phone).

Hey, your post makes me think of a story that my therapist related to me, when I was feeling bad about myself for "writer's block": when Jung split with Freud, Jung was so depressed he took some "time off"...and just built sandcastles on the beach for like 2 or 3 years. All of that to say: I don't think you should feel bad (which is a bit implied in your post) about "only building a house of cards." Sounds like a perfectly reasonable activity to me...
