social life with links
This weekend I made it out of the house and was able to meet several artists whose work I've been following and admiring for a long time.
Linn Meyers is based in DC and currently has a show here in Philadelphia at Gallery Joe . Her reception was on Friday. I saw her work for the first time in NY nearly 5 years ago, and wrote her a piece of fan mail. We've been corresponding casually since then. I'm interviewing her and the interview will appear soon on Fallon & Rosof's Artblog .

Linn introduced me to Anne Seidman , whose work I've been following here. She's also a web designer and has done some great sites for other Philadelphia artists. You can get to those links through her site.

Finally, Vince & Lisa Romaniello had a party on Saturday, where I was finally able to meet Tim McFarlane . It turns out Tim and I have been checking each other out from afar for quite a while now. We joked about how there should be a website for artists that's set up like a dating service. Instead of finding love interests, you get hooked up with people who match your artistic/aesthetic profile. (He and I would probably be in "art love" by now!) Tim has a show of new work coming up this fall here at Bridgette Mayer.

Vincent Romaniello will have a show of his work at Gallery Siano this coming October. In conjunction with that, there will be a "sideshow" of work by the artists he has documented on his video blog, including work by Tim and myself. Stay tuned for details.

Douglas...thanks for (re)introducing these great artists to us...Tim McFarlane's piece makes me think that this might be what Sean Scully's filing cabinet looks like. I like the idea for the artist's "dating service"...although we might get paired with "realists"...don't opposites attract?

Thats a telling comment 'gierschick'. Why do you say "realists" are opposite. Aren't we all just doing the same thing...making art that is?
