radio blog : denison witmer

Just as soon as I had given up on Radio Blog, I realized the moronic mistake I was making with configuration. I'm still learning this whole weblog thing. So, alright! Music is ON! Fiddle around with the controls...you'll figure it out. One pointer...if you click on "pop-up" at the bottom of the player, the player will open up in its own window and you can continue to listen to the stream even if you leave this page.

So there are four songs streaming today and for the next little while. They are from my younger brother Denison Witmer's upcoming release "Are You a Dreamer." This is Denison's sixth record, and his first with his new label Militia Group, and the release date is July 26. I've always said Denison is making the music I would have made had I tried to be a professional musician rather than professional artist. I continue to admire it.

This record is very understated, but full of detail. I would say it's "soft," but a deep soft. Denison worked with a great ensemble of musicians including Don and Karen Peris and Mike Bitts of The Innocence MissionThe Innocence Mission, singer songwriter multi-instrumentalist wunderkind Sufjan Stevens, and percussionist extraordinaire James MacNew, the drummer of my current favorite formalist rock band Ester Drang. I play on it, too.

I should note the files are very compressed and low quality. Future audio streams will have better sound quality.

Enjoy!
