phils update

Breaking up with the Phillies was so good for both of us. Since May 17 they took 2 of 3 from the Cardinals, Orioles and Braves. (They grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory and should have taken 2 of 3 from the Marlins, too.) All of this happened on the road. Then they returned to Philadelphia and swept the Giants, and are in the position to sweep a four-game series against the Diamondbacks today. They have won six games in a row and have won 9 of their last 10 games. Bobby Abreu has hit something like .417 in the last 30 days. They're now out of last place and three games over .500 for the season, and only 1 game out of first place in the National League East. And they're exciting.

To the Phils: we're still broken up, though. You need to show me that you're in it for the long haul.
