dear phillies...i'm sorry

Dear Phillies,

I have always been your fan. I will always be your fan. But my relationship with you is unhealthy. I can't keep getting my hopes up anymore, at least for the rest of this season unless you do something drastic to get yourself better. When I'm with you I always come away feeling depressed. I've decided I need to do what's best for me. I want to root for a winner. And if not for a winner, then at least for a team with a chance at winning. If it helps, just know that I have not chosen another National League team (although I really do like the Cardinals, who you will play tonight, and I will be listening and sincerely wishing you all the best). The Orioles are looking really good. It's not like I don't have a history with them. Really, I could have become an O's fan as easily as I became a Phillies fan. I mean, if it weren't for the fact that in 1977 when my dad taught be how to trade baseball cards by having me give him all my O's players for all his Phillies players, I might have been way more into Eddie Murray and Jim Palmer than Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton.

Good luck Phils. Let's go Orioles!
