New LOW album!
Over the weekend when I was working in my room in NY, there was no radio, but there was a computer and I was able to stream music from one of the BBC's rock stations. In the midst of it all, there came along a song. It was pretty incredible. The voices were vaguely familiar, and it took me almost the whole song to realize that yes, in fact, this was a new Low song.
The Duluth band Low has long been one of my favorite groups and their new album "The Great Destroyer" was released at the end of last month. Musically "The Great Destroyer" goes in a new, let's say, "aggressive" direction for the group. It's a bit disorienting at first, but incredibly powerful and after a listen or two, not so surprising. I should add that Low is one of the best live acts I have ever seen as well (but that might not be saying much considering I don't get to shows very frequently). Don't be surprised if I write more about this group here someday.
For a fun short video of the musicians' daughter autographing copies of the record at a shop in Duluth click here.
1 Comments:
Douglas, this is indeed a wonderful album. And the album cover, too is nice. Unfortunately, I missed them in Philly; they were here last week, at the Troc.
