Lenten Sequence
Over the past months I have found my attention becoming more focused on the spiritual aspirations/possibilities of my work. It's something I'd like to write more about someday...maybe...as long as whatever writing I do doesn't somehow do damage or a disservice to the work itself. At any rate, these days I'm thinking about it. I'm learning about contemplation. As a bit of an experiment, I suppose you could say, and with the encouragement of the church I attend, I have begun as a tangential project making work that has a somewhat expressly liturgical use. It has been interesting. My first project was a series of images and a related painting for the Advent season.
I have just produced a series of drawings for use in Lent. This 4-part sequence will appear on the cover of the church bulletin this Sunday. Then each of the 4 parts will appear individually over the following 4 weeks. Finally for Palm Sunday and Easter there will be another image that changes the tone and relates directly to a painting I am making for the space. (more on that soon)

Douglas -- I am curious about the Easter piece that will relate to the painting you're making for the church space -- how is that going?
