drawing retreat
...back in Philadelphia after a few days in New York. I was doing the first of a two-part super informal "residency" arranged with my friend Lowell. He set me up with a sofa bed and a table at the guest house he manages. Here are a few photos from the action.

Douglas...nice progress on the drawings. Next time -- drawing directly in those plaster borders on the wall? If only...what nice shapes. Seriously, do you find the shapes in your drawings being informed by those shapes on the wall?

That kind of wide/oblong cruciform is a shape that has been appearing in my drawings...and in one small (but, alas, abandoned) painting. It is serendipity that it appeared architecturally in the room. I took the photographs so I can consider the possibility of doing a piece specifically for the room when I return there next month.
